This is our most common Peru bird hunting venue chosen by our clients bird hunting in Peru. This combination hunt offers the highest volume of birds, and is the easiest, and least expensive trip in the lineup.
Expect to shoot 1-1.5 cases of shells per dove hunt (our highest volume Peru bird hunt). Dove species consist of both White Wing doves and Mourning doves. We shoot predominantly in corn fields, and in large roosts. Dove hunters can expect to shoot both high and low birds, and we can re-position our shooters upon request, based on the type of shooting one desires.
Duck hunts take place in the coastal marshes, where puddle ducks are extremely abundant. Four boxes of shells are provided to each client for the morning shoot, and the limit is predicated on your shooting ability.
The birds fly strong until 10:00 AM, at which time the hunting is postponed until the afternoon.
Afternoon Peru bird hunts consist of either dove hunts, or another duck hunt—depending on the group.
Lunch is served in the field, or we dine in local restaurants near the hunting areas—unless the group desires to return to the lodge for a siesta.
The midday is full of local attractions, and interesting scenery. The Peruvian towns all have something unique to offer visiting shooters, and all of our clients enjoy stopping and touring the local establishments.
Since hunting in Peru is virtually non-existent, any time is a good time. The birds are plentiful, and the pressure is nil. Your success will be determined solely by your shooting ability, so practice up on your clays, and have your shooting skills honed razor sharp when you arrive—after all, these Peru bird hunts are a once in a lifetime trip.
Another big plus about a Peru bird hunt is the fact that it is not necessary to try and time the birds, or time the weather—since the weather is very cooperative for hunting. Freezing, or near freezing temperatures in a duck blind?
Forget it! It never gets below 45 degrees in the duck marsh. Hunts for Andean geese will require warm clothing, since it does get cold in the mountains, but the duck and dove hunters need not worry—conditions are perfect for coastal shooting and comfort is the norm.
